Privacy policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026. This policy covers canadianwebmaster.ca. We wrote it to be read, in line with what PIPEDA and Quebec’s Law 25 expect.

Who is responsible

Canadian Webmaster is operated by Shane Heyworth in Caledonia, Ontario. Shane is the person responsible for protecting personal information (our privacy officer). Contact: hello@canadianwebmaster.ca.

What we collect and why

• Quote requests: your name, email, optional phone, business name, province, website address and what you tell us about your project. Used only to reply to you and prepare a quote.
• Website check: the address you enter and the results. If you unlock the full report, your name and email, used to send the report and to follow up once about it.
• Analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics records pages viewed and general device and location information so we can see which pages help people. It does not load unless you click "Allow analytics".
• Server logs: our hosting keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser) for security and troubleshooting, for a short period.

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list.

Where it is stored and who processes it

Form submissions are stored in our own database on servers we control. To run the site we use a small number of service providers, some of which store data outside Quebec and outside Canada (in the United States):

• Resend, to deliver lead notification emails to us.
• Discord, for internal notifications that a request has arrived.
• Google Analytics, only if you consent.

Each provider only receives what it needs for that job. Data stored outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted within 24 months. Client records are kept as long as we work together and as required for tax and accounting. Website check results without an email are kept up to 12 months.

Cookies

The site works without cookies. The only optional cookies are Google Analytics, which load only after you allow them in the banner. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer. Your choice itself is stored in your browser’s local storage.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, withdraw consent, or have it deleted, subject to legal record-keeping requirements. Email hello@canadianwebmaster.ca and we will answer within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or if you are in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
