Redesign without losing ground

Website Redesign Services

A redesign that looks better, loads faster and meets accessibility standards, with an SEO migration plan so the traffic you already have comes with you.

At a glance

  • 01

    Rankings protected at launch

Every existing URL is inventoried and redirected, so search engines and old links land on the right new page.

  • 02

    Accessible from the first draft

Colour contrast, headings, keyboard use and forms are designed to WCAG AA from the start, not patched afterwards.

  • 03

    Faster pages, cleaner code

A rebuild on a modern stack drops the plugin bloat and old scripts that slow most ageing sites down.

  • 04

A timeline you can plan around

You get a schedule with milestones before work starts, and updates at each step so launch day is predictable.

A redesign should leave you with a site that looks current, loads quickly, works for every visitor and brings in more enquiries than the old one. It should not cost you the search rankings you spent years earning. My website redesign services treat both as part of the same job: a better site, and a careful move from old to new.

This is for businesses whose site still works but no longer represents them: it looks dated, it's slow on phones, it's hard to update, or it was built before accessibility and privacy rules caught up with it.

What you get

  • A new design built around what your customers come to do, whether that is calling, booking, requesting a quote or buying.
  • Your existing content reviewed, tightened and carried over, with gaps identified before the build starts.
  • A faster site on a modern stack, or a cleaned-up rebuild on the platform you already use.
  • Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 AA designed in from the first draft.
  • A full SEO migration: URL inventory, redirect map, metadata carried over and launch monitoring.
  • Training on how to edit the new site yourself, plus the option of a care plan afterwards.

Keeping your rankings through a redesign

Most traffic drops after a redesign come from the same mistakes: pages removed without redirects, URLs changed without a plan, and titles and descriptions lost in the move. SEO for a website redesign and migration is mostly careful bookkeeping, and it's where many redesigns go wrong.

1. URL inventory

Before anything is designed, I crawl your current site and pull the pages that get search traffic and backlinks. That gives us a complete list of what exists today and which pages matter most.

2. Redirect map

Every old URL is matched to its best new equivalent and set up as a permanent (301) redirect. Pages being retired point to the closest relevant page instead of the home page, so visitors and search engines don't hit dead ends.

3. Launch checks and monitoring

On launch day I test the redirects, confirm search engines can crawl the new site, submit the new sitemap and check that analytics and forms are working. For the weeks after, I watch Search Console for crawl errors and ranking changes and fix anything that slipped through.

Accessibility built in

Retrofitting accessibility onto a finished design is slow and expensive. Building it in from the start costs very little. Colour palettes are checked for contrast, headings follow a logical order, every feature works with a keyboard, images get proper alternative text, and forms are labelled and announce their errors. If your organization has obligations under Ontario's accessibility law or another Canadian standard, the new site is built to meet them. For a full audit of an existing site, see accessibility compliance.

Redesign or fix what you have?

Not every tired site needs a redesign. If the structure is sound and the problem is speed, a broken plugin or a few outdated pages, a focused fix costs much less. Run the free website check to see where your site stands, and I'll tell you honestly whether a rebuild is worth it.

How it works

  1. Discovery call. We talk about what is and isn't working, who your customers are and what the site needs to do.
  2. Audit and inventory. I review your current site, analytics and search data, and build the URL inventory.
  3. Plan and quote. You get a sitemap, a content plan, a timeline and a fixed price.
  4. Design. Page designs for review, with up to two rounds of changes before the build.
  5. Build and migrate. The new site is built on a private staging address, content moved over and the redirect map put in place.
  6. Test and launch. Accessibility, speed, forms and redirects are tested, then the site goes live.
  7. Monitor. I watch rankings and crawl reports for the following weeks and fix anything that comes up.

Typical timelines

  • Business site, up to about 10 pages: 6 to 10 weeks.
  • Larger content site with SEO migration: 10 to 16 weeks.
  • E-commerce redesign: 3 to 5 months, depending on product count and integrations.

The biggest variable is usually content. Timelines hold when copy and photos are ready on schedule, so we agree on who owns each piece at the start.

Platform choices

Redesigns here are built on WordPress, Shopify or a modern Next.js and headless CMS stack. The right choice depends on how often you publish, who edits the site, how much traffic you get and what you want to spend on upkeep. If you are happy with your current platform, staying on it is often the simplest path. If you sell to Quebec, the redesign is also a good moment to add a proper French version.

What a redesign costs

Price depends on page count, how much content needs rewriting, whether you're changing platforms, and how much traffic is at stake in the migration. The website cost guide for Canada explains the main cost drivers. After launch, a care plan keeps the new site fast and current so you don't end up here again in three years.

Questions people ask

Will a website redesign hurt my Google rankings?

It can if URLs change without redirects or content gets dropped. That's why every redesign here includes a URL inventory, a redirect map and launch monitoring. Some short-term movement is normal while search engines re-crawl the site, but a well-planned migration keeps your existing rankings and often improves them once the faster, better-structured site is indexed.

How long does a website redesign take?

A typical business site takes 6 to 10 weeks from discovery to launch. Larger content sites with a full SEO migration take 10 to 16 weeks, and e-commerce redesigns usually take 3 to 5 months. The schedule depends most on how quickly content and feedback come back, so we agree on dates for each step before work starts.

Can you redesign my site without changing platforms?

Yes. If your site is on WordPress or Shopify and the platform suits you, I can redesign it in place with a new theme and cleaned-up content. If the platform itself is holding you back, I'll explain the trade-offs of moving, including cost, ongoing maintenance and how much you'll be able to edit yourself.

Do I have to write all new content?

No. Most redesigns carry existing content over, tightened up and reorganized where it helps. I'll flag pages that are thin, outdated or missing, and you can write those yourself or have them written as part of the project. Keeping pages that already rank well is usually smart, because rewriting them from scratch can cost you traffic.

How much do website redesign services cost?

Redesigns start from $5,000 for a business site of about 10 pages, from $9,000 for larger content sites with a full SEO migration, and from $12,000 for online stores, all in Canadian dollars before GST/HST. You get a fixed quote after a short call and a review of your current site, so the price is settled before work begins.
